FNV approached Valo with the question of how to think strategically about the best form and content for an online campaign around raising the minimum wage. The goal was to reach the younger target group in particular in the run-up to the elections. Young people, as they are starting out in the labour market, often have to deal with the minimum wage.
Podcasts & livestream
In close consultation with FNV, Valo developed an online strategy that fit perfectly within the existing campaign. And because you can’t walk on one leg, we devised a total plan: a one-off livestream plus podcast series.
Livestream event
In the run-up to the elections, Valo used a professional mobile studio to organise an engaging live event. During this online event, specialists and stakeholders discussed raising the minimum wage live from the studio in Amsterdam.
Podcasting = deeper insight
In addition to the livestream event, we recorded a series of podcasts. Led by a professional host, these featured in-depth roundtable discussions. In them, the topics from the livestream event were explored further in depth. A great example of how podcasts can provide substantive depth!
Podcasting remotely
Because of the well-known pandemic (you know: corona), we recorded the podcast series entirely remotely! Valo created a fully digital platform on which everyone dialled in via their own laptop. A super-tight preparation and multiple technical tests and checks were absolutely essential, as nobody was in the same room.
Making podcasts = top-level sport!
In practice, that meant checking (and double-checking!) all connections. But we also had the participants dial in in advance to see whether the sound worked and/or whether the audio still needed to be optimised. Because the last thing you want to hear when recording a podcast is: “Glad you’re here, but can you hear us, because we can’t hear you!”
