Do you want viewers to follow your webinar or livestream clearly from the first word? Valo Captions provides live AI captions during your broadcast. For recordings of an hour or longer, our own software helps people review and correct captions more quickly and with greater focus.

Live captions during your broadcast

Live captions can be displayed in the spoken language or translated directly into one or more other languages. This is useful for an international audience or when you want participants to read along in their own language.

Accessible to more viewers

Live captions make your webinar or livestream more accessible to people who are deaf or hard of hearing. They also help viewers who are watching without sound, are less familiar with the spoken language or are in a noisy environment.

Fully managed by Valo

Valo can provide live captions as part of your webinar, livestream or online event. Before the broadcast, we agree which languages are needed, which platform you will use and what best suits your audience.

Captions for videos of an hour or longer

Reviewing every minute of a recording, talk show, interview or meeting that lasts an hour or longer takes a great deal of time. Valo Captions was designed specifically for this kind of long-form video. The software brings passages that require extra attention directly into view, allowing an editor to listen and make corrections where they matter most.

How the software works

Several AI systems listen to the same recording independently and each produces a timed transcript. Valo Captions compares their results and uses the combined evidence to build a reliable caption draft.

  1. Initial caption draft: the software compares multiple AI transcripts and prepares the text, timing and caption blocks.
  2. Conversation hotspots: passages with a relevant speaker change, brief response or overlapping speech are flagged for review.
  3. Human correction: an editor listens to the flagged passages and decides which wording, timing and speaker assignment are correct.
  4. A readable final version: spelling, names, specialist terminology, line breaks and reading rhythm are checked before the captions are delivered.

Targeted review of speaker changes and overlapping speech

Automatic captioning often struggles when someone gives a brief response or several people speak at the same time. Words may be assigned to the wrong speaker, merged together or omitted entirely.

Valo Captions therefore listens not only to the words but also detects relevant voice changes and overlapping speech. These passages appear as conversation hotspots. The software identifies the risky passage; a person listens, compares the available transcripts and decides on the correct caption.

Less searching, while keeping control

With a long video, you no longer have to search blindly for the difficult moments. Valo Captions collects the review points and shows which passages still need attention. You can edit the captions yourself or ask Valo to handle the complete editorial review and final quality check.

Fully managed or self-service

You can ask Valo to manage the entire process, from captioning and translation to review and delivery. Would you prefer to work on the captions yourself? You can also use our software directly, with support or a final quality check from Valo whenever needed.

Why we built Valo Captions

We developed Valo Captions from our own production experience. We regularly produce talk shows and discussion programmes lasting between one and one and a half hours for municipalities, public-sector organisations and other clients.

Many general AI captioning tools are designed for shorter videos with a single speaker and rely on one automatic transcript. Long conversations are more likely to cause errors when people interrupt each other, respond briefly or speak at the same time. Valo Captions was designed for precisely these situations. Several AI systems listen to the same recording independently. Our software compares their transcripts and marks relevant speaker changes or overlapping speech as conversation hotspots. A person can then go straight to the risky passages instead of first searching through a programme lasting sixty to ninety minutes.

Valo Captions cuts our average captioning time in half.

Digital accessibility for public-sector organisations

Since 28 June 2025, the European Accessibility Act has applied to a range of products and digital services across the EU. Separate rules already required Dutch public-sector websites and apps to meet digital accessibility standards. For prerecorded video with audio published from 23 September 2020, captions are generally required. Live video is exempt while it is being broadcast, but the requirements for prerecorded media apply once a recording remains online or is made available again. Read more from the European Commission and DigiToegankelijk (in Dutch).

Targeted human review makes a real difference for long meetings, public events and discussion programmes. Valo Captions helps public-sector organisations caption these recordings carefully and efficiently.
