A11Y Collective is an online e-learning platform founded by Rotterdam full-service WordPress agency Level Level. The name A11Y is a numeronym for ‘accessibility’ and offers e-learnings about making websites accessible for people with disabilities.
Context
Imagine you are blind and use software to have website text read aloud. But many websites lack a technical structure, which confuses the software and makes it impossible to find the content you are looking for. Or you are colour blind and can barely see the difference between green and red buttons. Pretty difficult, right?
A11Y Collective wanted to change that and shared their years of experience in a series of e-learnings for web designers and developers. Valo was asked to support them during the recordings and guide them through the process of content creation.
E-learning recorded in a fixed lease studio and published on its own platform
Because A11Y Collective wanted to record new courses frequently, building a fixed studio at their office was the most cost-effective solution. Valo built and set up the studio for them, including the technical equipment. This was done in a lease model: A11Y Collective rented the equipment from Valo, so they had no upfront purchase costs.
The fixed setup saved a great deal of time on building up and breaking down: within minutes the office could be transformed into a professional studio with coloured LED lights.
A11Y Collective built the online e-learning platform themselves with its own login system, allowing participants to follow the courses there.

Camera training for the trainers
Teaching in front of a camera without interaction with your audience takes some getting used to. That is why Valo provided camera training and recorded several test videos. The trainers went through a steep learning curve and were able to present the e-learning with confidence.
