Logistiek 010 is an initiative by the City of Rotterdam, with the aim of making logistics transport fully electric by 2025. Transport in the city needs to become cleaner and smarter. For this project, they set up three live broadcasts at different locations.

Live broadcast of the festive signing ceremony of covenant ZES

For the launch of Logistiek 010, the board members had to sign a covenant. The City of Rotterdam wanted the announcement of the project and the signing ceremony to be broadcast live in order to bring the initiative into the national news. This first broadcast took place at Picnic’s logistics center. A wonderful location, because Picnic is the frontrunner in electric delivery!

The broadcast was a talk show with a professional talk show host, during which various guests were interviewed. The signing ceremony was celebrated festively with non-alcoholic champagne and confetti, and lasted one hour in total.

One of the main measures in the covenant is the Zero Emission City Logistics (ZES) zone. New delivery vans and trucks registered after 1 January 2025 must be emission-free in order to be allowed to drive in the ZES zone, an area slightly larger than the Rotterdam city center. From 2030, this will apply to all other delivery vans and trucks.

The other two broadcasts took place at Zuidpleintheater and the WTC building in Rotterdam.

Selected platforms and parallel programming

Valo produced the first livestream on behalf of the video agency, via the Hopin streaming platform. The final live broadcast was streamed via Networkapp, where Valo handled the parallel programming: broadcasting two programs at the same time. Through Networkapp, visitors could choose which session they wanted to attend. Two breakout rooms were used for this purpose (virtual spaces).

Valo provided

  • Advice on livestreaming platforms

  • Setup and teardown of the technical equipment

  • Facilitating the livestream

  • Studio screen direction

  • Main show with parallel programming: two simultaneous sessions in different breakout rooms

  • Recordings completed on site within one hour

Result

The first two livestreams were received so well that the City of Rotterdam organized another live broadcast a year later. With this, they wanted to draw attention to the project once again. In this third broadcast, the companies that had already implemented the project were discussed, along with the ways in which they had started driving cleaner and smarter.
