The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) in The Hague wanted to share information quickly and effectively and engage in discussion with people in education. In consultation with Valo, a series of interactive webinars was chosen. These offer plenty of room for interaction and you know exactly who is watching!

Experience with livestreaming for government

For the Ministry of OCW, the coronavirus measures were the reason to organize an online event. They were also looking for a partner that had worked with ministries before and had extensive experience in livestreaming. Valo was therefore the perfect partner for this online talkshow.

Interactive webinars

Together with the ministry, we discussed the setup for talkshows, which were shaped as short webinars. Because the decision to hold a webinar is often made at the last minute, a number of standard setups were developed for the presentation and the table discussion, from which a choice can be made each time. This makes it easy for the ministry to work with them itself.

At a different location each time, several speakers tell their story at the table in an atmospheric studio setting. In each webinar there is room for lively discussion at the table and with the online participants, who can join the conversation live. Speakers and experts from outside the studio can also call in live during the broadcast.

One of the webinars consists of a masterclass by a leading educational sociologist. His interesting story and the low-threshold access to the webinar create a full virtual lecture hall.

During the lecture, many questions are asked. A moderator passes these on to the speaker, who answers them on the spot or incorporates them into the lecture.

A moderator facilitates:

  • A smooth Q&A between participants and speakers
  • The substantive selection of incoming questions
  • Rewriting and shortening incoming questions

Valo provides:

  • Thinking along and creating a recognisable webinar format

  • A very user-friendly webinar platform (Webinargeek)

  • The ability to schedule webinars yourself

  • A mobile webinar studio at any location

  • Various tailor-made setups for presentation & table discussion

  • Options for live call-ins

  • Speaker coaching

  • Fast online publication of webinars

  • Periodic measurement of webinar results

  • Participant statistics to map the target audience

Result

Valo was able to provide a suitable solution that took the Ministry of OCW’s wishes into account. The result was a series of professional webinars. It was appreciated that Valo not only handled the technology, but also thought along on the content of the program.

Detailed user statistics show that through the webinars the ministry also actually reached the various target groups in education. The many online submitted questions also indicate that the participants took part actively and that engagement was high!

In retrospect, the ministry is very satisfied with the many registrations and, partly because of the high number of online participants, speaks of a great success.

Price indication

At Valo, every project is custom work with a different price tag each time. Such a webinar costs between €3,500 and €7,000 per production.
